“Quiet Reflection” Acrylic by Peter Leishman 2015
“I can do all things [which He has called me to do] through Him who strengthens and empowers me [to fulfill His purpose—I am self-sufficient in Christ’s sufficiency; I am ready for anything and equal to anything through Him who infuses me with inner strength and confident peace.]”
Philippians 4:13 AMP
Ten years ago I was reading Psalm 23 which we are so familiar with. I came to verse 2, “He leads me beside still waters.” As a new Christan I struggled to read scripture in a meaningful way. But this afternoon God opened my mind to the melody of this verse and those two words changed to “quiet reflection.” I immediately thought of Proverbs 27:19, “As in water race reflects face, so the heart of a man reflects the man.” For the first time the Bible came to life for me. I was amazed!
This experience inspired me to paint “Quiet Reflection” and forever changed the way I read scriptures by keeping my mind open to listen to the spirit of God that moves through the Bible and connects the verses to give new meaning and correlation to the word of God.
